Mental Health First Aid training seminar – Friday July 27 & Saturday July 28, 2012

Three board members from DBSA Albuquerque will be attending the Mental Health First Aid seminar here in Albuquerque this Friday and Saturday. Below are full details from Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Jim Clarkson. If interested, please contact Jim.


The Certification Course for Mental Health First Aid will be presented in Albuquerque, New Mexico sponsored by Rasmussen Counseling, LLC and presented by Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Jim Clarkson. All of the details and registration information are included in the attached flyer.

Our MHFA courses have had an amazingly rich diversity of counselors, human resource professionals, clients, family members, ministers, spiritual guides and medical staff. The $95 early registration fee includes Certification as a Mental Health First Aider, a detailed manual on substance abuse and mental health disorders and resources for help, and counselors and social workers receive 12 continuing education hours.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone who would benefit from learning new ways to understand, work with and support those with mental health or substance use challenges while taking care of themselves.

DBSA Albuquerque July event: Art in the Park, Corrales, New Mexico – July 15, 2012

What: Corrales Art in the Park

Where: La Entrada Park, Corrales, New Mexico

When: Meet between 10 am and 11 am Sunday, July 15, or any time you can make it. The event goes until 4 pm if you have other obligations on Sunday morning.

DBSA Albuquerque is going to Corrales for their Art in the Park event on July 15!

Art in the Park, a series of fine arts and crafts shows sponsored by the Corrales Society of Artists will take place the 3rd Sunday of each month in the Village of Corrales starting in May and running through October. The dates scheduled for this fine art event in 2012 include May 20th, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th, September 16th and October 21st.

This year’s 8th season of shows promises to be bigger and better than ever before featuring local and visiting painters, sculptors, photographers, potters, metalworkers, and crafts artisans who have been juried into the society. Hours for the events are 10AM to 4PM at La Entrada park (northwest corner of Corrales and La Entrada roads). Parking and admission to the events are absolutely free! Live music, food, and art demonstrations in this cool and shady location make these events some of the most unique and enjoyable of their kind in the area. As in past years, there will be a youth tent at each event wherein selected artists will work to teach children the basics of various mediums of art ranging from painting and drawing to bead-making.

DBSA opens new support group in Taos, New Mexico!

Starting July 6, 2012, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) support group is coming to Taos, New Mexico.

This is a peer run support group, not to be substituted for counseling or psychiatric services.

Meetings will be held each Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Religious Education Classrooms.

Doors open at 6:30 pm; meeting starts at 7:00 pm.
